Location 1 - Salima
Our first location was a known pan near Salima. It was in this pan - Dambo in Malawi - that Stuart had collected the Nothobranchius which Dr.R.A.Jubb refers to as Nothobranchius species Salima and also as N.cf.kirki. I believe this fish is also referred to as U8.

The water in this Dambo was crystal clear and never deeper than one's knee. The outer edges were totally overgrown with grass and the central area supported a large quantity of water lillies. On our second run with the seine net we produced our first two females. Within 30 minutes we had 6 trio's and some fry. With spirits high we decided to move on and try some new locations.
